Located throughout the New Jersey Counties of Passaic, Morris and Sussex, we provide professionally based social services, including Behavioral Health Programs, Veterans Services, Children’s Programs, Senior and Aging Services and much more.

Family Worker

Hours: 25 Hours per week (Monday - Friday 1:00pm - 6:00pm) (Summer Hours 10:00am - 3:00pm)

Location: Passaic, NJ

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator he/she will assist coordinate the services offered to youth between the ages of 9 to 17. Program participants are referred by local school officials, families or custodial parent, and other community organizations. Services include: one on one tutoring, behavior modification, individual guidance and support, group guidance, home visits, school visits, and referrals in-house or to other community organizations for additional support and counseling.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

l . Carries out the service plan CFCS-HIC and referring agency have developed identifying service needs, goals and objective. (Tutoring, anger management, gang involvement, conflict resolution,

  1. Document progress of participant and provides the information to the supervisor on a monthly basis.
  2. Accompanies supervisor on home visits to meet with parents to discuss program goals and objectives; and to offer agency's services if needed.
  3. Conducts trainings and workshops on behavior modification skill sets.
  4. Assists participants in developing social skills, and motivates participants to be responsible toward themselves and society,
  5. Work as part of a team with other program staff in the planning and development of recreational activities, workshops, and presentations.
  6. Maintain files, progress notes, and attendance sheets.
  7. Supervise participants, and implements program rules and policies.
  8. Provides transportation services to youth to various locations, and home using agency vehicle.
  9. Attend all related meetings, trainings, and other duties as assigned.
  10. Responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time to support the effective and efficient operation of Catholic Charities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate's Degree in Sociology, psychology, or related discipline preferred.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years experience in working with youth in urban cities.
  3. Must have a valid N.J. Driver's license.
  4. Must be bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
