Substitute Teacher Assistant (State-Mandated Pre-School) La Vida II

10 month position. (School Hours 8:05am - 3:00pm)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Supervise and insure the safety and well-being of children at all times; be alert to the needs and concerns of the children as individuals, and also as a group. Work co-operatively with the classroom teacher to engage and instruct children during the structured school day.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist Teacher in the everyday running of the classroom as instructed.
  2. Maintain line-of-sight-supervision of children at all times.
  3. Follow the daily program as outlined in the class schedule and weekly lesson plans.
  4. Maintain classroom equipment, curriculum materials and supplies.
  5. Work cooperatively as a team member within the classroom and the entire school community.
  6. Supervise children’s meal, rest, and snack times as assigned.
  7. Adhere to Catholic Charities Diocese of Paterson and to Early Learning Program’s policies and procedures.
  8. Report any suspected case of child abuse to the appropriate authorities as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Office of Licensing and BOE School District Guidelines.
  9. Responsible to report in writing any accident or unusual occurrence to the Program Director or Director’s Designee, before the end of the scheduled work day.
  10. Supervise children’s meal and snack times.
  11. Supervise naptime duty as assigned.
  12. Inform Program Director or, Director’s Designee of any classroom maintenance needs or safety concern.
  13. Follow program and licensing requirements for cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  14. Attend scheduled staff meetings and staff evaluation conferences.
  15. Carry out additional tasks as requested by the Program Director and/or Director’s Designee.
  16. Responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time to support the effective and efficient operation of Catholic Charities.
