Senior Accounting Manager
HOURS: Full time exempt. Hours will need to be flexible but is expected that hours will generally coincide with usual business workday.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Assist the Chief Financial Officer and Controller in executing all functions of the accounting department.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervise all functions of accounting department and report to the Chief Financial Officer and Controller.
2. Develop a procedure manual for all programs and keep it updated.
3. Maintain Accounting Systems
a) Capture data for funding source reporting and for year end and annual audits.
b) Provide for an adequate system of internal controls and monitor the same.
c) Statistical studies.
4. Assist Chief Financial Officer and Controller with internal audits and budgeting process.
5. Review cash receipts and allocation to programs.
6. Review all monthly and quarterly billings for various programs.
7. Prepare and submit timely budgets and expenditure reports to funding sources.
8. Analyze monthly payroll and benefit expenses.
9. Monitor and analyze monthly line item expenditures of all programs in comparison to their budgets.
10. Submit multiple worksite report.
11. Assist in preparing for the annual audits.
12. Responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, performance reviews, and on-going supervision of
all paid and volunteer staff; work alongside HR for terminations as required.
13. Implements training for new hires and identifies training opportunities for current staff.
14. Responsible for budget development, implementation, management and modification.
15. Responsible for the maintenance of funding streams, and cultivating of new funding sources.
16. Support the organization fundraising efforts and the Caritas Gala.
17. Responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining on-going communications and a positive
working relationship with the community at large, funding sources, and oversight agencies.
18. Submit required routine and special reports and statistics that are complete and submitted on time.
19. Attend regularly scheduled and p.r.n. meetings. Be prompt and prepared for and actively participate in
such meetings.
20. Serve as a good steward of the organization facilities and resources.
21. Conduct self in accordance with the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, the organization Code of
Ethics and Values Statements and as appropriate, the incumbent’s own professional Code of Ethics.
22. Responsible for maintaining professional credentials and certifications.
23. Responsible for on-going professional development.
24. Assure departmental compliance with all appropriate laws, regulations and requirements.
25. Responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time to support the effective and efficient
operation of the organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Exceptional organizational skills and team working attitude, friendly,
courteous, professional and culturally sensitive. This position handles documents that are confidential to the
operations of the agency. This person must maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Talking, ability to operate computers and office machines. Prolonged periods
sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL DEMANDS: At times will communicate with people under stress and must
be able to remain calm and professional in such dealings.
WORKING CONDITIONS: An office setting with exposure to the usual office work environment,
machinery and equipment with relatively few physical discomforts due to dust, dirt, noises and the like.
There are stairs to climb.
HORIZONTAL AND OUTSIDE RELATIONSHIPS: This position works cooperatively with other agency
staff. The employee will cooperate with the agency's administration and/or Division staff in any inspection or
investigation.
PLANNING: New and creative ideas may be fed into the organization through accounting staff meetings.
Written suggestions for changing the job description may be submitted as needed; formally, the position
description will be reviewed annually.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and Controller of Catholic
Charities.
