Maintenance Worker - Hope House Fix It Program (Part Time)

Maintenance Worker - Hope House Fix It Program (Part Time)

Hours: 20 Hours per week (Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 1:30pm)

Location: Dover, NJ

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for completing home repair tasks in the field related to the Fix-It program at Hope House. They also act as the Maintenance Worker on site at Hope House.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Completing home safety assessments in client homes.
  2. Completion of minor household repairs to client homes related to safety, weatherization, installation of handrails or small ramps, housing improvements which may deter crime, roofs, siding, doors and windows, foundation, floors, interior plumbing, electrical and touch up painting done to prevent deterioration and in conjunction with repairs all in accordance with the description of the Fix-It program.
  3. Completion of minor or labor intensive unskilled household tasks and seasonal upkeep activities (i.e. moving furniture and air conditioners, changing light bulbs, garage, basement and attic cleanout) and minor appliance repairs.
  4. Participation in community presentation regarding the Fix It Program.
  5. Completing work order forms for Fix It.
  6. Completing check requests for expenses incurred related to the provision of Fix It services.
  7. Tracking and monitoring of Fix It supply inventory.
  8. Gathering of requested financial documents from field based clients.
  9. Installing Hope Connection units and monitoring of supplies for this initiative.
  10. Completion of site maintenance tasks at Hope House.
  11. Completion of monthly Site Safety Survey for Hope House.
  12. Participation in supervision, team meetings and staff meetings.
  13. Participation in meeting and tasks related to the ongoing quality improvement of the program.
  14. Collaboration and team work with other staff.
  15. Responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time to support the effective and efficient operation of Catholic Charities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School/GED
  2. Must have a valid N.J. Driver's license
  3. Must have knowledge of minor household repairs including plumbing, electric and carpentry.
  4. Requires lifting (up to 50 lbs).
