Before/After School Program Assistant (FC II)

Located throughout the New Jersey Counties of Passaic, Morris and Sussex, we provide professionally based social services, including Behavioral Health Programs, Veterans Services, Children’s Programs, Senior and Aging Services and much more.

Before/After School Program Assistant (FC II)

Hours: Monday-Friday 10 hour weekly (2:30pm - 4:30pm)

Location: Paterson NJ

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Supervise and insure the safety and well-being of children at all times; be alert to the needs and concerns of the children as individuals, and also as a group.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain a caring, positive classroom environment in accordance with requirements of the Office of Licensing and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
  2. Work cooperatively as a team member within the classroom and the entire school community.
  3. Plan/implement age appropriate activities to engage children
  4. Maintain classroom equipment, materials and supplies.
  5. Attend training and pursue professional development in accordance with requirements of the Office of Licensing and the Child Care & Development Block Grant.
  6. Attend scheduled staff meetings and staff evaluation conferences, as applicable.
  7. Follow program and licensing requirements for cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  8. Adhere to Catholic Charities Diocese of Paterson and to the Early Learning Program's policies and procedures.
  9. Inform Program Director or Director's Designee of any classroom maintenance needs or safety concerns.
  10. Must report any accident or unusual occurrence to the Program Director or Director's Designee before the end of your scheduled work day.
  11. Report any suspected case of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Office of Licensing and School District Guidelines.
  12. Carry out all tasks as requested by the Program Director.
  13. Responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time to support the effective and efficient operation of Catholic Charities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma, CDA, or college credits
  2. Knowledge of child development.
  3. Effective English oral and written skills.
  4. Oral and written skills in a second language (Spanish, Arabic, Bengali, etc.) a plus.
  5. Effective comprehension and reasoning skills.
  6. Ability to accurately complete necessary documentation and forms.
